I really need to start using this space again.
Maybe if I force myself to write something beyond 140 character tweets I’ve been partial to lately, I’ll get back into a writing groove.
So much has happened since I last posted something here. The biggest being that the baby that was in my tummy in the photo bellow was born on Sept. 10th, 2010; Robin Kathleen Michelle is our littlest beauty. She’s slipped so seamlessly into our family and it’s such a joy to have her here. One chaotic evening soon after she was born, however, my husband and I looked at each other and weren’t sure that we’d come out at the tail end of winter alive if we were all confined to such a small space. So, four weeks after Robin was born, we found a big(ger) house we liked and made the lightning fast decision to put our little house up for sale and buy the big one. However, putting our little house up for sale wasn’t as easy as sticking a sign in the front yard; since we’d been updating and renovating since the day we’d moved into it in June 2003, there were lots of little projects that needed to be finished. For a week we hardly slept and my brother-in-law and sister-in-law practically lived at our house to help us get it ready. The hard work paid off and after eight showings, we sold the little house in two days and for more than our asking price. I couldn’t have asked for a more positive house selling experience. Selling the little house meant that we could buy the big house and now, here we are.
We moved in at the end of November. Actually, I should clarify: I really had nothing to do with the move since Robin ended up in the hospital with bronchiolitis (that developed from a severe case of RSV) the night before the big move. Instead Robin and I stayed in the hospital for 4.5 days while my husband, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and parents-in-law pulled of the move and wrangling the four year-old and two year-old. I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to thank my in-laws enough for everything they did to help make the move happen. Robin and I got home from the hospital on my birthday and just in time to go say goodbye to the little house one more time before we had to give up our keys.
Along with those two big things, we’ve been doing our day-to-day living which is busy and chaotic and infinitely good. Our four year-old started school, junior kindergarten, in Sept. (two days before the baby was born!) and after an initial adjustment period has been happy and enthusiastic about going every day to see her friends and to learn new things.
Lately, we’ve been happy just to hang out at home to enjoy just being together and our new space, which we all love. With the start of school, a newborn, a move, a hospital stay and finally Christmas busy-ness, things have been pretty insane since the end of August. We’ve had a lot of lazy, quiet days at home and we’ve been catching up on appointments that we put off this fall.
I hope I’ll make better use of this space this year. Forgive me if my first few posts are lacking while I try to get back into the groove of writing and just force myself to post something.
